DESCRIPTION

The Ribbon saw tail fish is a barbeled dragon fish which belongs to the family called Stomiidae, The depths found over 500 m between latitudes 40° N and 54° S . For female the length is up to 35 cm and 15 cm for the male.

DIET

The Ribbon saw tail fish is a predator where it lives. It feeds mainly on deep sea invertebrates and marine fishes. Photophores is used on their body that attract its prey before it gets cracked up into their jaws.

The Ribbon saw tail fish lives between the continental shelf and the abyssal zone where there is no light . The bathyal zone extends upto 220 meters.
