Bay of Campeche
The Bay of Campeche covers the southern part of the Gulf of Mexico. It is bounded on three sides by the Mexican states of Campeche, Veracruz and Tabasco. The area of the bay covers about 6,000 miles (9,700 km) and its maximum depth is about 170 feet (52 m).
Oil resource
Five oil fields are observed under the Bay of Campeche and it is the second largest productive oil field in the world, it provides about two thirds of Mexico's crude oil output.
