Halmahera Sea is a regional sea, lies in the central eastern part of the Australasian Mediterranean SeaIt is located at about 1�S and 129�E and is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean to the north, the Seram Sea to the south, Waigeo and Irian Jaya to the east, and Halmahera to the west
Geography
The sea covers the area of about 95,000 km and its geography comprises many number of separate basins and ridges, the main among them is the Halmahera Basin; it reaches a depth of 2039 m
