DESCRIPTION

It's head is totally simple. The upper shell has a slight skin without long ridges and it has huge bony plate . This tortoise has six or more slanting surface and it is nearly round and soft. It's body is much deeper when comparing to any other turtles. Both the front and rear of this turtle has 1 or 2 talon. Sometimes there is an extra talon in the front side. Juveniles color is in charcoal grey whereas adults color will be in dark grey green.

DIET

It has the most shredded jaws that permits diet for crustaceans, mollusks, fish, crabs, and shrimps.

HABITAT

It is usually found in estuaries and coastal bays , but it is a very large ocean with some of its range. They generally seeks for the off shore in the underground waters to the depths of above 500 feet that feed on residential crustaceans.

RANGE

The olive ridley settles the subtropical and tropical waters of the Pacific ocean, Indian ocean and Atlantic Oceans.

POPULATION

It has eight lakhs nesting females.
