Gulf of Venezuela
The Gulf of Venezuela is also called as gulf of Coquivacoa is a gulf of the Caribbean Sea bordered by the Venezuelan states of Zulia and Falc�n and the Colombian department (state) of Guajira. A channel of 54 km (34 mi) connects the gulf with Lake Maracaibo to the south.
Location
The Gulf is situated in the north of South America, between the peninsulas of Paraguan� of the Falc�n State in Venezuela and Guajira's in Colombia and is connected through an artificial navigation canal to the Lake Maracaibo.
Economic importance
The main factor of Gulf of Venezuela is the connection between the Caribbean Sea and Lake Maracaibo; it is a significant resource of crude petroleum for Venezuela.
