Baffin Bay
Baffin Bay is a sea which connects the Atlantic and Arctic oceans. It covers 1,130 km (700 mi) across from south to north. Most of the year the bay is not navigable because of the presence of large numbers of icebergs.
Location
Baffin Bay is a foot of the Arctic Ocean surrounded by Baffin Island in the west, Ellesmere Island in the north, and Greenland in the east. It connects the Atlantic through Davis Strait, and the Arctic through several narrow canals of Nares Strait. The bay is a northwestern extension of the North-Atlantic and Labrador Sea.Wildlife: About 120,000 Beluga whales (eating small fish and crustaceans) live in Baffin Bay.
